The quiet French City of Avignon – Wanderlust @73

“Forget about ‘making it’
or ‘making millions’
make memories
make road trip plans
make space for what you love
and who you love” – travel quotes

Avignon is a city in Southern France. It is the seat of the Catholic popes and has remained under the papal rule until it became a part of France in 1791. This is a town that is full of history, full of life, full of activity. Wandering the ‘old town’ and seeing its narrow streets is an adventure in itself.

The Palais des Papes is one if the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. Avignon’s architecture is much a part of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Some statues at the papal palace in Avignon.

The cobblestone streets of Avignon are always bustling with activity. It is such a picture perfect town with shops, restaurants and cafes all around the town square. You can walk around the narrow streets, or take a few minute mini train ride to see the town or even just sit down, relax and watch the people go by while having a sip of your favourite drink … i just love it!
