“Every exit is an entrance to somewhere else.” – Rebecca Puig
Ilocos is a region in the northwest coast of Luzon, which is the biggest island of the Philippines. This is where you can find the colonial heritage town of Vigan.
I have posted some doors from this area, a few months back. (click here Doors.) But here are more that I want to share with all of you. This is for Norm’s Thursday Doors Challenge- Nostalgic Doors of Vigan
However, to those of you who haven’t been to the Philippines before, don’t be deceived into thinking that the houses in the country are all like these. These olden style buildings are just primarily in this small community and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This is Calle Crisologo (Crisologo Street), one of Vigan’s most popular tourist attraction. It has preserved pavements and cobblestone street and on both sides are ancestral houses.

Here are some of the doors and stone houses that can found in and around Vigan.

If u didn’t mention it was in the PI, I would have thought these were in Mexico or Cuba.
Great shots!

The walls of Vigan seem quite as interesting as the doors. Lovely set.

What a lovely experience it must have been to walk along these olden buildings. I suspect many stories have passed through these doors.

It was originally a settlement of traders coming from China. And then it was colonised by Spain. So yes, colourful history and stories. Thanks for stopping by.

These are the first doors I have seen from the Philippines! Was the downstairs used for a business at one time and the people lived upstairs or are these factories/workspaces made into housing? Really nice photos!

Generally, the bottom is used for business and the top is the residential area. Thanks for your nice comment.

Wonderful doors! Particularly liked the one with the sign saying ‘Don’t block the driveway’. But so do you I guess…
