Love Locks in Prague

“Walking around the Prague is comparable to being in a fairytale: except for one minor detail: it’s real.”

A love lock or love padlock is a custom where padlocks are affixed to a fence, bridge or gate by lovers. The key is thrown away to symbolise everlasting love.

In Europe, love locks started in the early 2000s. The love padlocks are intended to be a love gesture and it can be seen on bridges in major cities all over the world.

This is for Frank’s Tuesday Photo Challenge – Locks.

You can see padlocks along the Mala Strana (meaning Lesser Town) district on a small pedestrian bridge below the Prague castle.

Can also be seen on the Old Town end of the Charles Bridge.
