“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” – Anthony Bourdain
I was so impressed as to how intense the blue skies were in Madrid. It was September when we went and the weather was scorching hot. Here are some photos of monuments that I found amidst the blue skies of Madrid, Spain!
This is in response to Becky B’s July Squares Challenge – Blue.
This is called the Osborne Bull and this can be found everywhere in signages, advertisements, highways, roadside, etc… In Spanish, it is called the Toro de Osborne, which is a 14 metre high black silhouette image of a bull. It was created in 1956 as a billboard for a brandy company, but the Osborne Bull has now become an unofficial national symbol for the whole of Spain.

A monument of a Spanish Bullfighter, Antonio Bienvenida, outside Plaza de Toros de las Ventas building.

Another sculpture of a matador and bull that seems to be suspended in space, outside the Plaza de Toros.

The Plaza de Espana, Madrid. This is a large square and popular tourist destination in the centre of Madrid, Spain.
Right in the centre of the square is a monument of Miguel de Cervantes. There is a statue of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.

The Neptune Fountain is a neo classical fountain and one of the most beautiful in Madrid. It is the centre of the Plaza de Canovas del Castillo but more popularly known as Plaza de Neptuno.

Statues of the Gothic Kings in the Plaza de Oriente.

This is the fountain of Philip IV of Spain, who was on the throne during the 17th century.
