Countryside / Small Town in Scotland – Wanderlust @95

“So much of what you are is where you’ve been.” Travel quotes

Braemar in Scotland is surrounded by mountains and unspoilt and unpopulated countryside.

This week, this is my entry to Amy’s Lens Artists Photo Challenge #64: Countryside and/or Small Town

The Scottish town of Braemar is in the Highlands. It has a lovely looking village , whch has a variety of boutique shops and places to eat.

Braemar has wells, rivers, creeks, waterfalls, churches and bridges. It is just fantastic to have a bit of a stroll and see the friendly people.

Aside from it’s stunning mountain scenery, it is very near some of the well known castles, which is just perfect for a day trip.

Braemar Castle – built in 1628 and has been originally a hunting lodge, then becoming a fortress, garrison then a family home.

Balmoral Castle – a Scottish home for the Royal family sine 1852.

Corgarff Castle – admire the castle even from afar and marvel at how isolated it is. Originally a noble residence until it became an army base.

  1. Oh, thank you for a lovely tour to one of my favorite countries! Lovely shots and small town bits. Highland cattle are greatly loved in Sweden as well – but most beautiful in the Highlands!

  2. Thank you for sharing – I enjoyed the lovely virtual tour with your photos. I’ve never been there, so it was fun to see from your perspective. I love the quaint buildings, the charm of them never ceases to impress me.
