“What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” – Karl Lagerfield
Nostalgia is associated with a yearning for the past, its personalities, and events, especially the “good old days” or a “warm childhood” – Wikipedia
I am putting this out for Nancy’s A Photo a Week Challenge – Nostalgia
Perhaps it is my age, but lately I am feeling very nostalgic. Nostalgia is not really a bad thing, it is not hoping that I can go back to what it was, but it is just a reminder of who I was that made me who I am today.
Maybe I had this feeling too after watching “Always Be My Maybe” in Netflix. 😜🙄🤦🏻♀️
This was a photo of myself when I was about 3 years old. Could not remember much from those times except that I was chubby and I had big round cheeks and wide round eyes. I was so spoiled then because I was the youngest among all my cousins and sisters that my aunties and uncles loved playing with me.
This was me in school, during my graduation in kinder and in high school. And there I was with my mother who passed away when I was just 30 years old.
Here is my family with my three sisters, my dad and mum plus my nieces and nephews. It’s so nice to see these old photos as there were not much captured during those times that there were no iphones and no social media. (Oh noooo how did we ever cope?)
Here I am with my grandma and my cousins on my mother’s side. Most of them don’t even look Filipino as my grandfather (he passed away even before I was born) was pure Spanish and my grandmother was pure Filipino.
Here I am with my great grandmother plus my close family relations on my father’s side. All of my uncles and aunties are gone now. Looking at these photos from 1965 brings back such good memories.
This was our honeymoon in the cold tourist spot of Baguio in the Philippines. Haven’t been back there since.
Our first child, Tim, with doting grandparents. This was maybe the last family photo that was taken because my mum passed away when Tim was only 4 months old.
Daddy’s little princess. She was and will always be Daddy’s little girl. Even now, when we have our family chats and his dad is not on the frame, Patricia’s always asks “where’s Paps?”
.
Although my husband and I are both artists by education, Tim had always been the artist in the family. Even at the game of pictionary he always beats us so easilly. And here was his drawing of the family that I saw in the archives. Haha (Daddy’s a giant!)
When I and my kids went to the Philippines to celebrate my dad’s 90th birthday. (And on the same year he passed away)
This is our take on re enactment of past and present. About 20 years apart.
Such wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing!
