City After Dark – White Night in Melbourne

“Life moves pretty fast. if you don’t stop and look around for a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

White Night is a yearly event and has been lighting the streets of the city of Melbourne since 2013. It usually goes for 2 nights … which is an all night party, special projection art, music, food, visual art, illumination and free entertainment.

This year however, for the first time, White Nights Reimagined in Melbourne was over 3 consecutive nights. And for the first time too, it has a curfew of 2 am. Anyway, that curfew is not a worry to us old bags 😂😂😂 This is for Frank’s Tuesday Photo Challenge – City After Dark

The first light projection we saw was the images from the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Pretty coloured lighting effects.

Lantern-like animals surrounding the waterhole.

Iris is an installation featuring a large scale projection of a human iris. The image moves and there is a pool reflection to create illusion.

These represents polluted environments of cities globally.

The Cocoon, a reminder that “we are not alone”.

Engage in the senses with these installations, have an impromptu meditation class.

Mad Max Road Fury projections is filled with so much action and lighting and fire blowing

An electric canvas

This roams around the city while changing its colours and making some roaring sound.
